Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is always an enjoyable time. A day to relax and visit with family and eat really great food. Can it get any better than that? We were in charge of bringing the dinner rolls and Landon wanted to make them the day of "because they are better fresh". I couldn't agree more only he wouldn't have given himself enough time. Luckily his wonderful wife started them at 7am so that when he made it up stairs by 9 they were ready to be rolled out. Everyone loved them and I still owe them the recipe:) The day was spent out at Landon's grandma & grandpa Carman's, we love our visits there. Thatcher really liked the stuffing, potatoes and green beans until he saw the apples and then that is all he wanted. Uncle Chad was really obsessed with his passion fruit punch and the rest of us dove into black friday shopping adds. Nothing grabbed my interest this year and so we didn't venture out with the 5am crazies we sauntered in around 10. It's nice to have all shopping out of the way and just get to focus on all the goody making and decorating. Now we just need visitors, so come over.

Thanks for these great pictures Granpa Lybbert!

Is he just not so so cute. He has taken a few steps, should be walking by Christmas.

Just Keep Packen It In

The Weeks Following

This month has been very busy. After Grandma's passing we traveled to Nephi Utah one weekend for her graveside service and burial and then the following weekend to Seattle for the funeral. We have been tired and poor Thatcher hates getting in his car seat for any reason now even the quick mile jaunt to my friends house whom I walk with everyday. Anyway he doesn't realize the trip will be a quick one he's just in protest for any length in the car seat; who knows it may stretch into 8 hours.
He has been getting more defiant lately, actually since Daddy buzzed his hair short hmmm... oooh my baby's growing up and starting to growl at me! So cute really. He has started to wrinkle his nose at everything, I think it's his new smile. He has finally started getting his second bottom tooth but barely. Since I'm still nursing I totally don't mind. Last week he started balling his right hand into a fist while crawling on carpet, as soon as he crawls to the wood or tile floor it's flat again. A bit strange and his poor knuckles on his right hand are all chapped and rug burned-it looks ouchy.
All in all he is quite the character and much to my amazement he will be one in like 6 weeks. He's not walking yet but stands alone and is so strong he pulls himself up on the piano and organ benches. This may have been a fluke but he got out of his crib somehow this week. I think he fell out but hasn't done it since.

I know it may be a strange place for a family picture but all of Great Grandpa Dan(Davis) and Great Grandma Daveda's descendants whom were present gathered around their graves. My Dad said his grandfather (Dan) passed away when he was 17. Funerals are a sweet sorrow. Grandma Enid will be missed but it was also wonderful to see relatives that we haven't seen for a time yet love so very much. So thanks Grandma for bringing us all back together. Later that day we toured around little Nephi Utah and visited the houses our grandparents grew up in and the war memorial our relatives are all honored at. It was cool.

This was us at Grandma's graveside. Mount Nebo is an appropriate back drop, behind the tree. A place grandma spoke fondly of in her youth. I particularly remember her talking about a "hobo hike" with her seminary class.

Thatcher found time to play in the leaves.

Enid Georgia Howarth Davis

My dear sweet Grandmother (Gram) past away at the age of 90 on Sunday October 26th. She will be missed but I know she is in a better place among family and cherished friends. Grandma once told me "I'm getting so old my friends are going to think I didn't make it!" Speaking of her friends that have already past on to heaven. Silly Gram, as if this wonderful sweet woman would go anywhere else but heaven.

Gram always spoke fondly of her years of service as a public health nurse. We grandchildren have fond memories of her telling us stories as her years as a public health nurse. Particularly those that she could never quite finish as she giggled her way to the end. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick whit. She could always get all of us in stitches of laughter.
