Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas is always a blast. Once family starts trickling into town we begin all our fun tradition. Skating, bowling, games, eating a lot, visiting, many late hours of putting the puzzle together(this years was a nightmare), sledding, watching Christmas movies, craft projects, celebrating Burton & Tacey's Birthdays, secret Santa, Christmas Eve PJ's, lighting candles and reading "Twas the night before Christmas" and the Christmas pageant of Christ birth.
Christmas morning we open our stockings while we wait for everyone else to wake up. Thatcher didn't really get into the whole unwrapping thing but has enjoyed many of his presents since then.

Thatcher's first Christmas. He loved playing with all of his cousins and hated being left out of things.

The Holidays

This season has been wonderful! I love all the snow. We have been sledding and enjoying the silence of the winter. Because we have so much snow we really can't venture to far from home. Meaning if you can't walk there, because driving out with out a 4 wheel drive pretty much guaranties you hours of unsticking yourself from the great snow of 2008. I love it! Curling up on the couch, reading a good book or two, sipping cocoa and watching the snow fall and fall and fall. I feel like I'm in my very own snow globe:)
Thatcher has really enjoyed himself and he gets very irritated with me when I make him come in. He loves everything about outside. He loves to eat snow, and sled on it he does not however like face planting in it...that is very cold and ruins your cheerful mood.

Thatcher's Love of Snow.
Daddy made a big mound of snow with the snow-blower and then everyone dug a snow cave. Pretty cool. Daddy, Poca, Arizona and Docker spent the night in it once.
Sledding is Fun!

My Little Snowball

What a great day to play. I bundled little man up and pulled him around the neighborhood on a sled, while Landon saved many neighbors by snow blowing them out. It was wonderful, Thatcher loved it and kept on rolling off the sled so he could play in this newly discovered cold white stuff. He had a ball and was very mad at me when I made him come in. Seeing as the snow is not going anywhere soon I have a feeling he will get more snow time...yipee!!!

Daddies little Helper

Landon got the tools out to help me finish a few Christmas projects and Thatcher was right there to help daddy. It will be more fun when he's actually a help but it was cute anyway copying dad's every move.

Make sure all is strait and spaced evenly.

Place the knobs...

...and secure tightly.

Snowing in doors and out.

Thatcher Loved it when Poca received a package in the mail. He could've cared less about the merchandise but the packing peanuts...Awesome!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!!!!

It has been snowing for over 24 hours and it is still snowing!!!!! Well Folks I don't think we have to worry we will have a white Christmas this year. It's days like these that remind me of winters as a child...I love it!!! Yesterday I was sitting on the couch by the window, listening to Christmas music and stuffing my Christmas envelopes and I was thinking this is the best. It was snowing, (did I mention that it still is?) the mood was entirely a Christmas one, I was just lapping in that moment; then Thatcher came over and through a bunch of letters into the air and made the moment complete:) I can't wait to take him down the road on a sled, he'll love it, as will I.

Walking!!!

Thatcher is walking 3 and 4 steps as of yesterday while visiting great grandpa and grandma Lee. He gets so excited it's almost like he's taking off running. Not long now. I thought he was a speedy crawler, now he really will be everywhere. Oh yeah and he is now able to open doors so I am now a full time toilet monitor...yuck!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is always an enjoyable time. A day to relax and visit with family and eat really great food. Can it get any better than that? We were in charge of bringing the dinner rolls and Landon wanted to make them the day of "because they are better fresh". I couldn't agree more only he wouldn't have given himself enough time. Luckily his wonderful wife started them at 7am so that when he made it up stairs by 9 they were ready to be rolled out. Everyone loved them and I still owe them the recipe:) The day was spent out at Landon's grandma & grandpa Carman's, we love our visits there. Thatcher really liked the stuffing, potatoes and green beans until he saw the apples and then that is all he wanted. Uncle Chad was really obsessed with his passion fruit punch and the rest of us dove into black friday shopping adds. Nothing grabbed my interest this year and so we didn't venture out with the 5am crazies we sauntered in around 10. It's nice to have all shopping out of the way and just get to focus on all the goody making and decorating. Now we just need visitors, so come over.

Thanks for these great pictures Granpa Lybbert!

Is he just not so so cute. He has taken a few steps, should be walking by Christmas.

Just Keep Packen It In

The Weeks Following

This month has been very busy. After Grandma's passing we traveled to Nephi Utah one weekend for her graveside service and burial and then the following weekend to Seattle for the funeral. We have been tired and poor Thatcher hates getting in his car seat for any reason now even the quick mile jaunt to my friends house whom I walk with everyday. Anyway he doesn't realize the trip will be a quick one he's just in protest for any length in the car seat; who knows it may stretch into 8 hours.
He has been getting more defiant lately, actually since Daddy buzzed his hair short hmmm... oooh my baby's growing up and starting to growl at me! So cute really. He has started to wrinkle his nose at everything, I think it's his new smile. He has finally started getting his second bottom tooth but barely. Since I'm still nursing I totally don't mind. Last week he started balling his right hand into a fist while crawling on carpet, as soon as he crawls to the wood or tile floor it's flat again. A bit strange and his poor knuckles on his right hand are all chapped and rug burned-it looks ouchy.
All in all he is quite the character and much to my amazement he will be one in like 6 weeks. He's not walking yet but stands alone and is so strong he pulls himself up on the piano and organ benches. This may have been a fluke but he got out of his crib somehow this week. I think he fell out but hasn't done it since.

I know it may be a strange place for a family picture but all of Great Grandpa Dan(Davis) and Great Grandma Daveda's descendants whom were present gathered around their graves. My Dad said his grandfather (Dan) passed away when he was 17. Funerals are a sweet sorrow. Grandma Enid will be missed but it was also wonderful to see relatives that we haven't seen for a time yet love so very much. So thanks Grandma for bringing us all back together. Later that day we toured around little Nephi Utah and visited the houses our grandparents grew up in and the war memorial our relatives are all honored at. It was cool.

This was us at Grandma's graveside. Mount Nebo is an appropriate back drop, behind the tree. A place grandma spoke fondly of in her youth. I particularly remember her talking about a "hobo hike" with her seminary class.

Thatcher found time to play in the leaves.

Enid Georgia Howarth Davis

My dear sweet Grandmother (Gram) past away at the age of 90 on Sunday October 26th. She will be missed but I know she is in a better place among family and cherished friends. Grandma once told me "I'm getting so old my friends are going to think I didn't make it!" Speaking of her friends that have already past on to heaven. Silly Gram, as if this wonderful sweet woman would go anywhere else but heaven.

Gram always spoke fondly of her years of service as a public health nurse. We grandchildren have fond memories of her telling us stories as her years as a public health nurse. Particularly those that she could never quite finish as she giggled her way to the end. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick whit. She could always get all of us in stitches of laughter.

...we're off to see the Wizard the wonderful Wizard of Oz...Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin man, Wicked Witch of the West, Toto and a Dental Hygienist?haha

Toto in a candy coma?Nah, just wiped out from 2 1/2 hours of trick-or-treating. Sleep little pup, sleep.

It was a really fun evening, the kids got Thatcher to make ghostly noises and he was very chatty the entire night. He really seemed to enjoy the whole Hallo-weening experience and so did the rest of us.

Weekend in Canada

Last weekend we decided to take a trip up to Cranbrook and visit Brent and his family before the snow starts to fly. Thatcher had a wonderful time with his cousins and loved all the new toys to play with! We went to the park and played despite the chilly wind and that night went swimming at the local indoor pool. They also took us on a hike to a beautiful waterfall that was also home to old mine tunnels. It was a very enjoyable trip, we did not come home without our favorite Canadian goodies either but we can't wait to go back! Thanks Davis' we Love You!
The trolley to get us back and forth...hold on tight and watch your head.

The beautiful tamarack trees in their golden Glory made for a picturesque hike.
