Grandpa Leo's 85th Birthday

It has been awhile since a lot of the family has gathered together and it was wonderful to be with them all again. We gathered at Uncle Jim & Aunt Paula's house to sing and celebrate grandpa's 85th birthday. Crazy that he use to drive a horse and buggy to school and use hot rocks to keep warm in the winter. Amazing how quickly techknowlogy took off. We love you grandpa you are a great example as well as a Great Grandpa to about 80 of us...WOW!

Big Bertha!

Thatcher has discovered Big Bertha. He loves to climb on her, play with her gadgets & steer her big wheel. I am talking about great grandpa Leo's old tractor, so named Big Bertha. He is such a boy born with an innate sense of all things, well boy. He instinctively knows to hang on to the steering wheel and shift the gears...how does he know that!?
Well anyway, with his summer hair cut he sure looks cute up there on Big Bertha...don't you think?

“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. (or the Big Bertha) Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams."

Happy Fathers Day!

Wow, I am just on top of my blogging. Summer just is what it is. It always goes by to fast and there is always so much going on and I just do what I can. We have wonderful fun memory packed events happening this summer i hope I get some of them posted. If not, um, oh well. The moments will be enjoyed.

Beautiful Blossoms!

I love this time of year, how could you not? We headed to green bluff, a place we will visit often until the end of fall. Today it was blossoms, blossoms everywhere and honey bees a buzzen. What a beautiful day. Thatcher was to busy picking dandelions to look at the camera much or hold still for more that a few seconds but we did manage to capture a few cute ones, it really isn't that hard.
We are so grateful that it's spring, new life has started and the earth is alive once again. Lets go dig in the dirt!

Mom Raising 3 Autistic Children

I encourage all of you to check out the link under "my favorite Links" about a mother raising 5 children, 3 of which have autism. It is a good read and quite entertaining not to mention inspiring. The mother is my sister in law Linda's older sister. Create a link on your blogs as well and lets get her story told. Thanks Briett

Take time to Smell the Tulips

Tulips, a wonderful spring flower. Thatcher, taking his time to smell right before he tries to pick them. He is very sneaky but I'm on to him. Again enjoying our days in Seattle at Grandma Enids House.

Time in Seattle

Thatcher and I spent a week in Seattle at Grandma Enids house. It was really nice being there and just spending time. I got a visit from my childhood best friend Gretchen and her son Cash. Landon joined us on the weekend.
Thatcher, no surprise, loved the beach. After I showed him you could flip over the rocks and watch the little crabs scatter, he couldn't get enough of it. Then I showed him how to squish and squirt the sand bound sea anemones, he really enjoyed this as well. Mostly it was difficult to get him to comeback to the house and to not walk into the ocean. Oh yes and it was very hard to stop him from licking all the salty rocks...yuck!
We came to go through some of grandma's things and to visit family. All in all it was a very enjoyable journey and we hope to be back very soon.

Where Did April Go?

It has been a busy six weeks and it's only going to get worse (as far as busy goes)from here. I'm looking at my schedule for the summer and I think I have 3 weekends free, for now. All activities happening will be fun and enjoyable there are just a lot of them.
Thatchers thumb is healing and growing out, it's just a little bumpy nail but that may grow out and be normal, time will tell. It sure hasn't stopped him, he is quite the busy man. He constantly wants us to take him outside and he is drawn to any type of water; from the biggest swimming pool to a pool of mushy goo, from the tiniest mud puddle to a sink full of nasty dish water, which he loves to drink. I know gross! His other bad habit is climbing into the toilet, fully clothed. He's only done it 3 times but i thought ones was enough. The last time his foot got stuck down the flushing whole, well stuck enough that he couldn't get out himself but needed assistance from mom.

Do to the busy summer schedule and the week that mom (me) will be at girls camp we have started the weening process, some may say it's long over due but I say whatever, it was working for us. It's only been a few days and I have cut it down to two feedings a day one at night before bed and one at nap time. The biggest thing for Thatcher is sleeping in his crib and the hardest thing for mom (me) is listening to him cry. The first night he only woke up once, well twice if you count the 8am waking but I made him stay in bed because he was still tired. So after another 30 min cry he fell back asleep.
Last night he cried for about 20 min again (so did I) them sat down and held my fingers through the crib calmed down, then laid down and fell asleep FOR TEN HOURS! A HUGE breakthrough for us. Great job Son!
We hope this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship:)
I seem to stay busy with massage, church callings, motherhood, wife hood and Cinderella-itis. Messes never seem to cease, do they?
Landon, is still working on his life long goal's but has fatherhood and husbandness down to a T. He also has a nice collection of self-help and motivational books if anyone need help in these areas, he's the guy to see. He also enjoyed his first "tea party" and held his sign high and proud "Stop taking liberties with my liberty"!

We are enjoying Thatcher at 16 months he is starting to talk more and run like the wind. He is only in the 12% for his weight but the 89% for his height, so I guess I'm raising a string bean. I love his hugs and kisses his silly faces and sounds only a mother understands and his contagious laughter and goofiness. He loves to do what the big kids (older cousins) are doing and we have to be careful what we say and do because he is beginning to copy everything. He is very interested in little babies and poor baby max (cousin) gets over loved sometimes. I know what you'll say perhaps it's time to have another one, well perhaps it is but I'm really enjoying this one sweet boy for now.

Trip to the ER!!!

Well it's happened, our first trip to the ER with Thatcher. You may all think it's from all of his climbing. After all I just posted about that but no, this is the classic finger (in this case thumb) smashed in back of door jamb. All went well, considering the event. No broken bones, just two stitches and he will loose his nail and some sleep I'm sure. He was pretty good considering, mom and dad were probably more traumatized than he was and I shudder to think this is only the beginning.
