Time in Seattle

Thatcher and I spent a week in Seattle at Grandma Enids house. It was really nice being there and just spending time. I got a visit from my childhood best friend Gretchen and her son Cash. Landon joined us on the weekend.
Thatcher, no surprise, loved the beach. After I showed him you could flip over the rocks and watch the little crabs scatter, he couldn't get enough of it. Then I showed him how to squish and squirt the sand bound sea anemones, he really enjoyed this as well. Mostly it was difficult to get him to comeback to the house and to not walk into the ocean. Oh yes and it was very hard to stop him from licking all the salty rocks...yuck!
We came to go through some of grandma's things and to visit family. All in all it was a very enjoyable journey and we hope to be back very soon.

Where Did April Go?

It has been a busy six weeks and it's only going to get worse (as far as busy goes)from here. I'm looking at my schedule for the summer and I think I have 3 weekends free, for now. All activities happening will be fun and enjoyable there are just a lot of them.
Thatchers thumb is healing and growing out, it's just a little bumpy nail but that may grow out and be normal, time will tell. It sure hasn't stopped him, he is quite the busy man. He constantly wants us to take him outside and he is drawn to any type of water; from the biggest swimming pool to a pool of mushy goo, from the tiniest mud puddle to a sink full of nasty dish water, which he loves to drink. I know gross! His other bad habit is climbing into the toilet, fully clothed. He's only done it 3 times but i thought ones was enough. The last time his foot got stuck down the flushing whole, well stuck enough that he couldn't get out himself but needed assistance from mom.

Do to the busy summer schedule and the week that mom (me) will be at girls camp we have started the weening process, some may say it's long over due but I say whatever, it was working for us. It's only been a few days and I have cut it down to two feedings a day one at night before bed and one at nap time. The biggest thing for Thatcher is sleeping in his crib and the hardest thing for mom (me) is listening to him cry. The first night he only woke up once, well twice if you count the 8am waking but I made him stay in bed because he was still tired. So after another 30 min cry he fell back asleep.
Last night he cried for about 20 min again (so did I) them sat down and held my fingers through the crib calmed down, then laid down and fell asleep FOR TEN HOURS! A HUGE breakthrough for us. Great job Son!
We hope this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship:)
I seem to stay busy with massage, church callings, motherhood, wife hood and Cinderella-itis. Messes never seem to cease, do they?
Landon, is still working on his life long goal's but has fatherhood and husbandness down to a T. He also has a nice collection of self-help and motivational books if anyone need help in these areas, he's the guy to see. He also enjoyed his first "tea party" and held his sign high and proud "Stop taking liberties with my liberty"!

We are enjoying Thatcher at 16 months he is starting to talk more and run like the wind. He is only in the 12% for his weight but the 89% for his height, so I guess I'm raising a string bean. I love his hugs and kisses his silly faces and sounds only a mother understands and his contagious laughter and goofiness. He loves to do what the big kids (older cousins) are doing and we have to be careful what we say and do because he is beginning to copy everything. He is very interested in little babies and poor baby max (cousin) gets over loved sometimes. I know what you'll say perhaps it's time to have another one, well perhaps it is but I'm really enjoying this one sweet boy for now.

Trip to the ER!!!

Well it's happened, our first trip to the ER with Thatcher. You may all think it's from all of his climbing. After all I just posted about that but no, this is the classic finger (in this case thumb) smashed in back of door jamb. All went well, considering the event. No broken bones, just two stitches and he will loose his nail and some sleep I'm sure. He was pretty good considering, mom and dad were probably more traumatized than he was and I shudder to think this is only the beginning.

My little climber

Yes it has begone. I knew it would, I'm just not ready for all the falls. Thatcher loves to climb. I've only captured some of his lower climbs because the others I haven't been able to run and crab the camera for fear of where he may be when i got back. For example I caught him up on the dinning room table, and when I got to the room the chandelier was swaying. Which means he was reaching for it and can almost grab it, oh what fun it will be when he can swing from the chandelier's...yipee!!!

More!

So, I've tried to do the baby sign language with Thatcher and the only one he uses is "more"! He has his own version of more and uses it whenever he wants something. It's very cute and funny, especially when he really wants something and the action speeds up and is pressed more firmly. He has also started to say "mo" when signing. It is all very fascinating to watch and he is learning very quickly. He copy's a lot now too, sounds, actions and some words:) He also nods his head for yes and no and it's never just once it's over and over very quickly, especially for no, of course.

A 20 Year abcense...

I know it's hard to believe I can remember back that far and well; but it's true. Well, I've broken down and joined the fad. After a twenty year absence I now have bangs again. We shall see how it goes. I don't plan on braking out the'ol curling iron, feather brush or large can of hair spray but the eighties are back, I guess we might as well except it and embrace it. I'm really looking forward to that side pony tail again...ya think!?

Catch up!

Well It's time for me to play a little catch up. The first of February we Landon, Thatcher and I traveled down to Rexburg Idaho to help my brother Blair and his family move home. I must admit Landon did most of the helping. I was lucky enough to watch my nephew Hayden while my sister worked. So we got visiting in and a lot of packing. While there Landon also celebrated his 26th Birthday; Meghan, Dusty and Carson traveled from Idaho Falls for the occasion.

Thatcher and Hayden were so funny together. Hayden whom is 5 months younger weighs about the same as Thatch and Thatcher found himself being tackled and squished a few times. Not knowing how to fight back he just cried out. Most of the time they were good to each other, Thatcher likes to poke faces and learning to share toys was another thing. Thatcher, did teach Hayden to get in the cupboards and play with the contents within, or empty off whatever they could crab. Cousins are great!

I was a bit bummed that it was still very cold there and snowing, but thatcher was so ready to get out of the car the only problem is he always plays in the street. Even here at home, he always makes a b-line for the street. He worries me. I have to keep a very close eye. I am grateful how much he desires to go outside, we are going to have such a fun summer.

Here Come the Deer

We have so many deer on the back hill, it's been so fun watching them, except when we put apples or something out for them and they fight over it. Jumping, kicking and biting each other for it. Food must be scarce. I know mom has noticed many of her bushes and plants have been eaten, so we will see if we get flowers this year. The turkeys have been waddling through on a daily bases as well. The kids enjoy this. It's nice being so close to nature, in town. Come spring and summer the moose start roaming through as well. It's great!

Why I Love Mom!!!

Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed"

She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches.

Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button

She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer.

She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.

She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair.

She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her purse.

Mom then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails.

Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed."

"I'm on my way," she said.

She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on.

She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and TV's, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.

In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals.

About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. "I'm going to bed."
And he did...without another thought.

Anything extraordinary here? Wonder why women live longer...?

CAUSE WE ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL..... (and we can't die sooner, we still have things to do!!!!)
